The garage ran on a Virgin Media business broadband connection that regularly delivered inconsistent speeds during peak hours. Their main frustration wasn't speed β it was reliability. EPOS terminals failed during outages, forcing cash-only transactions and occasional customer walk-offs. The garage's new DMS (Dealer Management System) software ran entirely in the cloud and ground to a halt during connectivity dips. Without a static IP, remote access to their CCTV system required a dynamic DNS workaround that regularly broke.
Telexico installed a 1Gbps full fibre business broadband connection with a dedicated static IP. Alongside this, Assure X failover was added β a 4G backup router that automatically switches all traffic within 60 seconds if the primary line drops. This combination cost Β£68/month total β significantly less than the previous Virgin contract β while delivering far superior performance and resilience.
Fourteen months after installation, the garage has not experienced a single EPOS outage. The failover has activated three times β twice for brief Openreach maintenance windows and once for a fibre cabinet fault β and on each occasion staff were entirely unaware until Telexico's monitoring alerted them. DMS performance improved dramatically on the faster, lower-latency full fibre connection. CCTV remote access now works reliably every time via the static IP.
"Card machine going down during a busy Saturday was a nightmare. Telexico sorted the whole thing out β better broadband, failover backup and we're paying less. Haven't had a single problem since."

The Openreach survey took place within 5 days of order. Installation followed 8 working days later. The garage was connected to gigabit full fibre within two weeks of ordering.
Telexico supplied a new business-grade router with WiFi, pre-configured before delivery. The garage's existing network switches and WiFi access points connected directly to the new router.
The garage evaluated both. Full fibre broadband was sufficient for day-to-day operations, but the 4G failover bundle gave them the resilience they needed for card terminals at a fraction of leased line cost. They added failover instead of upgrading to a leased line.
The garage was paying Β£127/month for a Virgin Media business broadband connection with no static IP and no meaningful SLA. Telexico's full fibre with static IP and failover costs Β£68/month.
